HANKINSON, N.D. – A 25-year-old woman is dead after two motorcycles collided early today on Interstate 29 near the North Dakota and South Dakota border.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol says the two motorcycles were northbound on I-29 at mile marker 4 in Richland County when they collided in the right lane.
The 34-year-old male driver of one motorcycle lost control and began to sway. His passenger fell off the rear of the swaying bike and into the east ditch of I-29. She was pronounced dead at the scene, the patrol stated in a news release.
Neither driver was injured.
The crash, reported at 12:09 a.m., remains under investigation. The Richland County Sheriff’s Office, Hankinson Fire Department, LifeFlight helicopter and Hankinson and Wahpeton/Breckenridge ambulance services responded to the crash.
